This year, on the weekend of April 19th and 20th, the Downtown Burbank Arts Festival will once more be filling the town with arts and crafts of all kinds. The biggest outdoor event in the East Valley, and certainly the most diverse, the annual Fine Arts Festival is totally free of charge and attracts visitors from across the local community and further afield too. The event takes place in the area of San Fernando Boulevard, between Orange and Magnolia Groves. Over the weekend, more than twelve thousand art fans are expected to visit the Festival to enjoy admiring the artwork and to purchase pieces for taking home as souvenirs and additions to their own colllections. Each day, the art can be viewed between 10am and 5pm. While staying in downtown Burbank during April, be sure to check out this festival!

All of the art on display is part of a juried collection put together of pieces from the area’s leading commercial artists, photographers, designers, sculptors, jewellers and ceramicists from across the California, Nevada and Arizona region. Every piece is unique and made by the artists, many of whom will also be working onsite and demonstrating their process. This is an amazing opportunity for local residents and visitors alike to witness the whole package, from development through to final sale, watching their favourite artists work in numerous different media.

In addition, as a nod towards Burbank’s heritage and position as the ‘Animation Capital’ there will also be an entire block’s display of animated and visual special effects drawing on film, television and video games. More than forty artists will be featured here, showing work from some of the most popular and highest grossing movies in animation’s history. Some of these artists here will also be selling work, including art books, merchandise and prints. Then, outside, some incredible chalk artists will be creating pieces on the concrete and asphalt inspired by the animations in the exhibition. There really is something for everyone to see and enjoy.
