Ramada Burbank

Pantages Theatre Brings Award-Winning Musicals to Hollywood

Burbank is a great area to stay in if you want to be in Los Angeles, but far enough away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Just a short drive to Hollywood, Burbank has a neighborhood feel that is unrivaled by other areas in Los Angeles. Not to mention, the city has many hotels near Bob Hope Airport, which only recently was named the cheapest airport in the US! There are many fun activities to spend your time in Burbank, and one of the best things to do is catch a show at the nearby Pantages Theatre in Hollywood. The theatre has a great lineup over the next few months:

Memphis: July 31 – August 12

Winner of multiple Tony Awards, including the 2010 Tony Award for Best Musical, Memphis is loosely based on Memphis disc jockey Dewey Phillips, who was one of the first white DJs to play black music in the 1950s. The story tells of this DJ who falls in love with rock and roll and a black singer, both forbidden things. The show involves dancing, rock and roll, and emotion as it tells the story of fame and forbidden love.

The Book of Mormon: September 5 – November 25

This musical, written by the creators of South Park, tells the story of a group of Mormons on their mission trip. After the main characters are sent to Uganda, they realize they have the near-impossible task of recruiting a village preoccupied with unjust slayings and torturing by a notorious General. The play tells the story of these Mormons as they struggle to cope with the way life is in Uganda. The music and songs are great, not to mention The Book of Mormon won the Tony Award for Best Musical in 2011.

Donny & Marie: December 4 – December 23

Celebrate the holiday season with a classic Donny & Marie show, following in the true tradition of the “Osmond Family Christmas” TV specials. The famous pair will share the spotlight and perform both holiday songs as well as some of their big show-stopping numbers. Spread the holiday joy with your family and friends in Hollywood with everybody’s favorite Osmonds!
