A Day Out at Universal Studios Hollywood

Universal Studios Hollywood entrance

Universal Studios Hollywood is an incredible day out for all movie fans, providing a unique opportunity to go ‘behind the scenes’ and see sets and characters from those favorite films. Offering a combination of theme park rides, shows and entertainment, shops, restaurants and cinemas alongside a real working studio, Universal Studios Hollywood offers a fun day out for the whole family.

The best starting point is with the famous Studio Tour. Going behind the scenes in a working studio means people catch glimpses of work in progress, as well as seeing some of the staged options set up specifically for visitors. Covering 13 city block’s worth of area across four acres, the Studio Tour is narrated by famous comedian Jimmy Fallon whose video link segments play on the tram to add to the audio guide. Included in the price of entry, the Studio Tour covers the set of the plane crash in ‘War of the Worlds,’ Wisteria Lane from TV’s ‘Desperate Housewives,’ the Bates Motel of ‘Psycho’ and ‘Jaws’ hiding beneath the water. The Studio Tour also includes the King Kong 360 in 3D, created by Peter Jackson, which has won awards and is the world’s largest 3D experience. If you’re staying in Burbank CA, don’t miss out on a wonderful day at Universal Studios Hollywood!

Five more rides are part of the Universal Studios Hollywood experience. The most popular of these is also the newest – Transformers: The Ride 3D. A four and a half minute long dark ride is based on the plot of the Transformers movies, in which Transformers characters are trying to protect the AllSpark from the evil Decepticons. A 610m track takes riders past 18m high projections, using vehicle mounted motion platforms, flight simulation, plus physical and special effects too. Other rides include Revenge of the Mummy, a steel rollercoaster with a top speed of 45mph, Jurassic Park: The Ride, the only water ride in the park which finishes with an 84ft plunge splash landing, plus the family friendly Simpsons Ride and Shrek 4D.
