54th Annual LA County Holiday Celebration

laholiday

Since it began in 1959, the Los Angeles County Arts Commission has presented the Holiday Celebration show each year on December 24th. On behalf of the LA County Board of Supervisors, this incredible collection of performances has become a valued tradition uniting the community and spreading holiday spirit. Held in the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion at The Music Center, the show is on Tuesday December 24th between 3pm and 6pm, as well as being broadcast live on television via KCET-TV at 3pm and repeated at 8pm on the 24th, then at noon, 3pm and 9pm on Christmas Day. Others prefer to listen to the show on the radio, possibly on KPFK 90.7fm.  However, if you’re in staying in the LA area then make sure to get into holiday spirit at the LA County Holiday Celebration.

An amazing array of musical groups, choirs, dance companies and many more from all around the Los Angeles area are brought together to put on this free show. These neighborhood groups celebrate everything that is great about LA – its diversity and the mixture of cultures that all form part of the city life. Suitable for the whole family and with free entry, the seats in the theatre will fill up incredibly quickly on that day so it is recommended to arrive early before the doors open at 2.30pm. Parking is also free at the Music Center to make it easier for families to come together and enjoy the show. There are no reservations or tickets required, so it really is a first come first served event.

This year, the 53rd annual event will be hosting 24 groups and almost eight hundred performers from all walks of life. Auditions and applications by local groups started in summer, with rehearsals taking place over the past few months to make sure this year’s show is better than ever. Given that the LA County Holiday Celebration has been Emmy nominated, that’s a tall order – but audiences will not be disappointed.
